Lord Balto Games
The terms
This is a draft pending legal review. It describes what the site and game do today and is published so that nothing is hidden while the review is under way.
These terms cover bachrediscovered.com and the web edition of Bach Rediscovered, both operated by Lord Balto Games LLC, and describe what the site and game collect. The Steam edition is additionally governed by the Steam Subscriber Agreement. Effective date: October 13, 2026.
Using the site and game
The web edition is an early playtest build. It may change, break, or be withdrawn without notice, and progress made in it may not carry forward to the released game.
You may use the site and the web edition for personal, non-commercial play. You may not copy, redistribute, or reverse-engineer the game, interfere with the site or its services, or use automated tools to access it other than ordinary search-engine crawling.
The game, its artwork, recordings, text, and the Bach Rediscovered name belong to Lord Balto Games. The music of Johann Sebastian Bach is in the public domain; our recordings and arrangements of it are not.
Steam and the Steam logo are trademarks and/or registered trademarks of Valve Corporation in the U.S. and/or other countries.
The site and game are provided as they are, without warranties of any kind. To the extent the law allows, Lord Balto Games is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from their use. These terms are governed by the laws of California, United States.
What we collect
On this site
Analytics. The site uses PostHog to record page views, clicks on the Steam and Play buttons, and session replays. Session replay records how the page is used; text typed into form fields is masked and never recorded. Requests go to PostHog through this site's own address (/score), and PostHog processes them in the United States.
Your email, if you give it. Pressing "Play Now" asks for an email address before the game opens. The address is sent to PostHog and attached to your analytics profile so we can see who is playing the playtest build and follow up. It is not stored in your browser. We do not expect to email you regularly, and we stop collecting addresses once the game is released.
MoonForge. The site and the web edition also send session start and end events and screen views to MoonForge, a second analytics service, for the same purpose as PostHog.
YouTube. The trailers are embedded from youtube-nocookie.com. YouTube sets no cookies until you press play; once you do, Google's privacy policy applies to the video.
In the game
Gameplay analytics. The game sends PostHog events about progress and play: puzzles opened and solved, buttons pressed, settings changed, and the game's version and platform. On Steam this includes your Steam display name and language. Events are not sent from development or test builds.
Crash and error reports. The game uses Sentry to report crashes and errors, with the game's version, platform, renderer, and the steps leading up to the problem. On Steam the report includes your Steam build and branch. Reports are sent only from released builds.
Saved progress. Your progress is saved on your own device (or in Steam Cloud, where available). We do not receive it.
Accounts
A coming update adds optional accounts so your progress follows you between devices. You will be able to sign in with an email address or with a Facebook, Google, Apple, or possibly Discord account. When that ships, we will store the account identifier the provider gives us and your saved progress, you will be responsible for activity under your account, and this page will be updated before the feature is released.
Sharing, retention, and your choices
We do not sell personal data. The services named above (PostHog, MoonForge, Sentry, YouTube, Steam) process data on our behalf under their own terms. Analytics and crash data are kept for twelve months. To ask what we hold about you or to have it deleted, write to support@lordbalto.games.
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.
Cookies and browser storage
bach-gated(local storage, this site) — set after you enter an email to play in your browser, so you are not asked again. No personal data. Kept until you clear your browser's site data.- Game settings and progress (local storage and IndexedDB under
/game/) — the web edition's save data: solved puzzles, volume, language, fullscreen preference. Stays on your device. - PostHog (
ph_*cookies and local storage) — a random visitor identifier, session identifier, and the session-replay buffer. Used for analytics. Expires after one year. - MoonForge (local storage) — a session identifier for its analytics events.
- Sentry — no cookies; crash reports carry a random identifier for the running game only.
- YouTube — none until you press play on a trailer; after that, YouTube's own cookies under Google's policy.
Clearing this site's data in your browser removes everything above. Blocking local storage keeps the site working: you will be asked for an email each time you press Play, and the game will not keep settings between visits. Whether this site needs a consent banner is one of the questions the legal review will answer.
